Summer Heat...

Hi folks, overtime i come on here and i look back at my last blog, WOW. it's been so long....
I hope y'all are having a warm start to summer like we are in Virginia. S;ring as you can tell has been incredibly colorful! I love all the new birth of everything and how colorful it is. It let's me really stick the color out there, and season's change. That's one of the things that i've come to enjoy with this state, change of season's. Just to mix it up a bit with a painters pallet. I love it, I have always loved change and it keeps me young, well, feeling that way. I enjoy painting in a more grayish world, so i'm welcoming in my earth tones. Of course i'm not changing my pallet, Primary colors plus white, just mixing more towards the earthy reds....I look fwd to a busy summer of painting as much as I can.....

here's some paintings....
Take care!

Pushing through to summer....

Hi folks! It's been literally nearly 4 months since posting here, partly due to phone malfunctions and partly due to busy scheduling. Sorry but my phone has been recalled (camera) that is not taking sharp photos. Apple issued a recall but my phone had a very slight scuff so it made the recall obsolete!! needless to say, I haven't been able to take any good photos of paintings that i've had time to do...so here they are

I'm trying to keep this short so I'll just get right to the task at hand...here's some paintings...

December heat...

You may be questioning the title here and questioning if I am referring to our nearly week long temps being above 70's, or if I'm referring to color temperature. The former wins out. It's felt like summer here in southern Va. I've been loving it but it doesn't really feel like Christmas is a week away! Anyone out there interested, I'm running a 30% off special since we are so close to Christmas. Just email me for the special! The special also includes free shipping!

Here are a few paintings I've been working on recently! Hope you like!

Giving thanks

On this holiday weekend we should all be filled with thanks! If God hadn't of decided to put you on this earth what would you be? There is a purpose for your life, are you living up to his glory? Are you thankful for all of the blessings he has bestowed upon you?

" Those who trust in the Lord are like Mt. Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever " - Psalm 125:1

I am thankful for all of you who appreciate my art, who purchase my art, and who always keep my head above the waters (my ego). Thank you for allowing me to paint and carry on Gods blessing to me. I hope you all have a blessed time here and give thanks to those who deserve it.

Here is some info on my next show. Opening reception next Thursday at Gallery Flux in Ashland, va. Here are my pieces for that show

Why we ALL need art in our lives....

I often think of the ordinary people who are going to and fro in their lives and how much more meaningful each of their lives would be if they would collect original art.  I consider myself a very blessed man, have God on my side, have a very loving family that allows me to pursue my destiny, and a lovely woman to share her love and support. I often think and Annalise why art is so special. Some days I find myself seeking the abstract qualities of a scene... Like this painting....

Sanbridge light

Plein air

....Sanbridge Light has to me many abstract qualities like shape movement and qualities behind the grays, with its warms and cools.... Or another one of mine here in Blackstone,Va....

Shadows of Faith

This painting was purely about the qualities of abstract shapes and marksmanship. Every time I approach a scene we must ask ourselves, "what is this about". In this case, the way the light was laying on the building was my focal point. So I simply went after that.

Catching a feeling is essential to painting outdoors, catching that little moment in time! Ahhhh! That's where it's at! I hope you are inspired and I hope you would respond with your reasons for painting, here are a few recent works as well, take care... God bless!
