Bay Days

Bay Days was this past weekend. IT's where a whole bunch of people come to town to I think, drink alot of beer, and oogle over someone elses boat. How big is yours, etc... but a few artist set up right outside of Blue Skies Gallery on King St and displayed our paintings or wares. It turned out to be a huge success! Both for Blue Skies and for us artist who were looking to build their contact list and just to get together as a one unit and talk art! I have to say that Leslie, owner of Blue Skies, is one of the most incredible ladies around! Thank you Leslie for all that you did for us this past wk end. You make all the efforts of us artist look so easy! Aside from that I have been working on some studio work so here's another painting fresh off the easel... Hampton Bay Days!

Hi folks, I just want to remind everybody that Hampton's Bay Days is just around the corner! I am very excited to participate in this event as part of BLue Skies Gallery on King st. in downtown Hampton. This event from what I hear, is ALWAYS fun with thousands in attendance each year! Come out to my booth and say hi! Here are some paintings that I am anticipating in having at the festival!

Coming in from the Storm 22 x 28 This piece is now on display at the Charles Taylor Hampton Arts Center in Old Town Hampton, Va. The show runs Sept. 1 through October 14th. Come out and view all of the great art!

The Air up there...

The Air up there... How many artist take a few minets out of their day to stop and look at the sky. I mean, usually when I'm out the sky is very influential. When I go out to paint, I have an idea in mind of what I want to paint. Usually those ideas change according to the scene and what works with in a painting. After I'm done with the academic stuff, I usually look to be a little more responsive to open up my senses a bit and look for how the clouds move throughout the wonderful sky! It's the most liberating form of painting. A place to be free of rules and thought. Mother nature forces you to be fast when working on sky scene's. Since they are constantly moving, you have no time to second judge your actions, forceing one to open up and be free. I try to get in one painting a wk geared toward a sky. Some wks it works, some wks, we just have those Va. grays that I used to tease my Mom about as a child. With any effort, you can always look up and paint what you see. In 5 minets, It will be completely different. Take the jump, it's worth the leap!

Summer Heat!

Hi Guys, I hope summer has been busy and productive for everyone! I have been busy painting and exploring my 3 color palet scheme as always. I really do love the restricted palet. It's quite liberating pushing and exploring color to achieve an accurate balance with in each painting. On a lighter note I do want to mention my recent activities at Blue Skies Gallery, here in Hampton. Hi Everybody! Hope your week is off to a great start, well, it's almost hump day so we are half way through! I have been working hard on some paintings both in the studio and plein air. I just want to tell everybody that I got accepted into the Va Artist 2012 Exhibit at the Charles Taylor Gallery here in Hampton, Va. This is a first exhibit for my work here and the potential of a sale are great! This is one the most prestigious opening's in the area so I am VERY excited about it. The reception is Sunday July 15th if anyone want's to come down and see the show. The show is juried by Carolyn Webb Wright, Director of the Visual Arts Center of Va.
