Smithfield Wine and Beer Festival

Hi Folks,
I just participated (danced and painted) my day away at Smithfield's Wind and Beer Festival 2013
Here is a couple of painting's that I painted from the top of the hill. One was more challenging than the other simply becuase I do not usually do crowds....but here it is...
Also, I'd like to congratulate the Charles Taylor Art Center for putting on such a wonderfully catered event tonight as well. The silent auction was a huge success with lot's of folks turned out and dressed up for a private art auction!!! Yay H.A.L!

Plein Air 757

Hello Winter, er...winter-ish Hello folks. Hope you all have been well.... I have been up to my usual painting adventures. I recently participated in a Plein air event here in the Norfolk area called Plein air 757. It was an event where 40 regional artist all came together and spent 2 days painting in the (phone) area code of 757. It was my first time taking part in an event here in Va like this so I was very excited about it! The first day presented absolutely amazing weather! I did 3 painting's that first day. The second turned cloudy due to a tiny storm called Sandy. Sandy didn't rear her ugly head here in Va as much as in the New England area. Some painters were actually scrambling back to their families in the hard hit areas. From what i hear there are a few that still are without power. My heart goes out to them and their struggles. Here are some of the paintings that resulted from that event. I did win 2 awards for one of my paintings and one even sold the night of the "Wet painting sale!" Here are those pics!
I also did a larger piece that is in there as the last one that I have been working on in the studio for a Gallery on this side of the river. Hope you enjoy your fall, and Happy painting everyone! Tom

Sunny days, or rainy days, it's painting time!

Spending some day's inside. Spending some luxurious days outside... I have had my time while painting plein air out in the elements. It's not so much fun! So when the weather has taken a turn for the worse around Hampton, I tend to stay inside. Here are a few painting's from those days.... Here are a few paintings from my journeys around this state of Va. It's been a fun couple of wks!

Coastal Reflections

Hey everybody!
The weather is here!
Wow, how the weather cures the soul. It's been some great painting weather along the Virginia coast. I almost forgot how nice it is to be around water again, and how much at home I feel being in a more humid climate. Here are a few paintings I have been working on over the past couple of wks. Things are in full color here and now with the sun higher in the sky for longer periods it makes it much easier to sneek in a painting after work! More to come shortely and hopefully as time allows more to be posted here as well!

Don'f forget to always chime in on my art! it's good to get feedback!
