Spring is in the air!

Summer light

Well, even tho it is still the middle of February I woke up this morning with a spring vigor in my step! And although the groundhog saw his shadow just the other wee king stating that we still have another six weeks of winter, I have decided that I'm going to skipp all that nonsense and claim spring change-over happened yesterday eve. I have always felt that I can tell when seasons Change over and my guy told me it happened yesterday. So I'm sticking to it!

What does all this mean? Well, it's time to get ready, get out the paints and start to be a little more prepared for summer- btw, it's just Around the corner! I've been working in the studio lately and have a full on cabin fever going on, it's time to stretch the limbs, to restock supplies and get to know Mother Nature a little better.  Here are some recent paintings done in the studio. Hope you like!

Branching out

Birch Family
18x24

Hi folks, hope you all are doing well!
I've been very busy planning for a very busy summer painting trips to Florida and beyond.  Yes I have accepted in Winter Park,Florida's Plein air paint out (www.polasek.org) that is happening April 20-26.

This will be my first time taking part in this prestigious event and I'm really looking fwd to the warmer climate!  The winter cabin fever has really been hard this year with temps below normal. I have been colder here in Va than I can ever remember in Wyoming!  The humidity here really has been draining and all I can think of is staying inside close to the fire.

But, all that time in studio has allowed me so,e time to get some larger paintings done. I don't paint large paintings whe. I'm out Plein airing mainly because time and size factor. Plus having a large 16x20 outside really does act like a sail once the wind picks up.  These paintings that I have revised and fixed up are ready to go to new homes now, so I'm happy to announce that some of my larger paintings will be represented in a private show happening next Saturday, feb 8. Legrand Fine Art in Richmond has agreed to show som

e of these paintings!!! This is a huge opportunity to work with such professionals and be included in the collection of some of the nations best painters! Find out more info at www.legrandfineart.com

It's time for a new YOU! New Year, New ways to do things.

Hey folks,
I hope you all had a great holiday season! I had an incredible one myself and if Santa was good to you all as much as he was to me we should all feel so stuffed with art supplies and armed for the new year!

This time of year I always take stock and look at my years work, annalize and set some goals for the next year and set goals on improvements. How many paintings to do this year, if I have any goals for major improvements I usually order enough small canvas's ( 6 x 8 ) for studies and usually get started on those right when the linen arrives. I stock up early because spring is right around the corner. That means I should already have met my goals, that means I need to get outside and paint. Not later, but NOW! One of the best parts of January is that the days are inherently getting longer and even though the temps are cold, painting in the winter time outside is spectacular! I have always loved the soft light, the long shadows, and the chill in the air. Summer is right around the corner and I've got to be ready for it!

Plans are for a very busy summer here with shows all over the east coast. The first being in Winter Park Florida April 20-27. This is a new event for me so it should be fun. Check back for more details soon and if you feel up to it, give me a jingle and talk about art sometime!

Have a great January! See you all further on down the road!

Stuffed....

Hey folks, nothing to debate right now in my mind, but i did want to take a few minutes of your time to say how appreciative I am to have so many followers! This Blog has tripled in yall's traffic over the past year! I can only think yall for keeping coming back to my site.

I hope yall are having a very thankful Thanksgiving weekend. For me, it's been a very relaxed and low key weekend. A great old painting friend came down to throw some paint with me. Even though I have mainly stayed inside while painting, he has stepped out and gotten in a couple paintings in between brief trips inside to warm by the fire. I salut him for braving the cold, but clear days.

It has been way to long since posting some recent images here. That is not to say that I have not put down the brush! I'm still painting nearly daily and have painted on some bigger sized canvas's. Those are alot of fun just for the sake of getting "INto" the larger pieces and spending more time on them.

Well, anywho, here are some of the paintings, Enjoy!
